social faux pas
January 05, 2006 at 9:32 AM

so i had to contact bank of america yet again today because of trouble due to my account. i've been dealing with the same guy who is desperately trying to keep me from closing the stupid thing because i've had so many problems. i don't even want to list them here because they're so extensive. but anyway...he sent me like 4 holiday cards with his business cards in them "in case i have any questions".

today i had to call because my debit card was invalid even though i just used it the other day to deposit money. seems i can give them money, but can't get it back. so i call and talk to him and he says it was somehow was closed out on december 30th. so bladdy blah, we go through my info and it's all set. then he tells me he's having a birthday party this saturday and invited me to go and that it's at this big music venue in the city. i was caught off guard a little because one minute we're talking about how it's embarrassing to be at the grocery store getting your debit card denied for a $14 purchase then all the sudden someone is inviting you to their fancy birthday party. i was so off guard that i said, "sounds like a big gay old time". yeah. i've gotta learn to watch my mouth apparently. he was like "what?". i'm not sure if he heard me, but i was like "oh, it sounds really fancy. like...a big party for your birthday". i don't think that he's gay, not that it matters from my end, but from the receiving end i hope that he didn't hear. if he were 6'2" and 250lbs that talked about construction work and beer that's one thing. but straight men that are more...shall we say...metrosexual can be offended by those types of comments. let's just hope my account doesn't suddenly "freeze" again.
